My heat pump compressor went bad. Fortunately it was still under warrantee
but the bill for installation seems high.]

It's a one ton unit and I am being billed as follows;
10 R-22 $210
1 recover and dispose freon $135
1 solder kit $75
1 evacuate and recharge $115
5 Hrs. labor $260

Why am I charged for the recovery of the present freon AND for a full
recharge?
Why am I being charged for tools that I assume are used on many additional
jobs? Re: solder kit.
Recover and dispose of freon and evacuate and recharge and labor seem to be
duplicitous???

No..its not.

Recover and dispose is one process, evacuate and recharge is another....

Wonder if this wonder boy you have doing it will use a micron gauge, or just
his manifold....hummmmm....

Stuff aint cheap. It does not grow on trees, and the facts are, you are
getting out QUITE cheap.

Just curious. It's costing him $800 for a warranty call on a 1 ton
unit. What does a 1 ton unit cost new?

The total cost may be fair, but itemizing that solder charge is
probably not doing much for customer pr. You don't really use $75
worth of solder every time you do a compressor swap. Why not bump
your hourly by a bit instead?
